This is an archipelago gathered as a tribute. Three hundred years after Defoe discovered the potential of an island as a generator of stories, a team of 68 illustrators scattered around the world shares for the very first time the outlines and coasts of their own creations.

Magical islands, embodying fears, fantasies, reflections, dreams, and escapes, are shaped through the dual cartographic interplay drawn by the suggestive illustrations of very diverse styles and by the texts, which provide stories for each of the fascinating emerging lands. Chris Riddell invites the reader: «Imagine for a moment that you too are a castaway, like Crusoe, on a distant shore. What is it like? What can you find there? From these very questions, our artists mapped their beloved islands. As with stars during the day: even if we can't see them, it doesn't mean they're not there…».
