Before the COVID-19 pandemic entered our lives, contemporary adolescents
already seemed to live in a post-apocalyptic scenario where they represent
the new social normal. Trapped in a stage that was once a transition,
leaving adolescence has become a new Ithaca. Character disorders in
adolescence today challenge the logic of the normality-pathology continuum
to raise questions about the construction of identity, when binarism has
shattered into a thousand pieces and the body has been displaced as the
site of experience by a virtual world. Working with contemporary adolescents
presents itself as a great challenge and an enigma to be solved.
